Working in sales can teach skills that are seldom learned elsewhere. Much like Lisa VanPatten of Transcend, I too credit the time I spent in sales to how I perform my role today. Working with a team of like-minded people, learning how to negotiate, and communicating effectively are skills that are essential and easily transferable in many industries.
Some of my best memories come from my days working in car sales. The hustle, camaraderie, the satisfaction of closing a deal, and learning opportunities that develop in an intense and scrappy sales environment were so rewarding to me when I look back on it.
Did you ever have a similar experience from a stint in sales? Let me know.
